BOOK DESIGN
& ILLUSTRATION

If an image is worth a thousand words, then an image and an idea paired together are unstoppable.

We help authors give form to their ideas, and craft bespoke designs and illustrations that make their books stand out and enrich the reader’s experience.

Designing tomorrow
Professor Martin Tomitsch (University of Technology Sydney) and Steve Baty (CEO of the Australian Design Council) hired us to help design and illustrate their book “Designing Tomorrow”. Working closely with both authors, we developed a suite of rich illustrations and finely tuned visual designs to help create context around many of their ideas. The book centres around the idea of planetary design, and how organisations as well as individuals can help create a world that is purpose-driven rather than by purely economic reasons.

There needed to be a sense of practicality, and the visuals were the perfect vehicle to get this point across.Working closely with both authors, we developed a suite of rich illustrations and finely tuned visual designs to help create context around many of their ideas.

The book was published by BIS Publishers, and is now available on Amazon and numerous book stores around the world.

Career Architecture by Mags Hanley
In June 2021 we started our co-design journey  with Margaret ‘Mags’ Hanley - a leading Australian designer and information architect. Mags was writing her book “Career Architecture” which centres around how to actively shape your career in the design industry.
Her idea was to make this book as ‘hands-on’ as possible, knowing that most designers have an innate desire to tinker. This meant that our approach to visual design had to be considerate of this, taking into account the tactile goal of the book. With this in mind, we worked with Mags in a heavily co-designed fashion, allowing us to gather insights, create storyboards and investigate art direction in live sessions. All of this was achieved during the challenges of lockdown, with our design and execution completed entirely online.
TEAMERSHIP BY KEEGAN LUITers
We worked team coaching & leadership consultant Keegan Luiters to visualise his book from cover to cover. This included developing a striking cover image, illustrating a series of abstract icons to represent his unique ideas, as well as visual design throughout the entire publication.
